Explore and photograph the Holy Island of Lindisfarne on this new 2025 Northumberland Landscape Photography Workshop delivered by two professional landscape photographers based in Northumberland.

  • Date 9th February 2025
  • Time 9.30am - 4pm
  • Max. group size 8 participants
  • Cost £80 per person

The Holy Island of Lindisfarne is a small but very atmospheric island off the north Northumberland coast. The island is connected to the mainland by a causeway, which is accessible only at low tide.

There is a lot to interest photographers on Holy Island. During the workshop we’ll explore the most photogenic sites on the island, which will include the harbour area with its iconic upturned boats, the beautiful ruins of Lindisfarne Priory and neighbouring St Mary’s Church, and Lindisfarne Castle perched high on its distinctive rocky outcrop.

The workshop is timed so that the workshop will take place when the causeway is closed. This means that the island should be quieter and there will be more scope for shooting water in around the harbour.

Useful information

This workshop is suitable for photographers of all levels of experience and ability, from absolute beginners to those with more experience. The group size is limited to eight to allow Jason and David to devote ample time throughout the day to every participant.

Bring with you the camera equipment (camera, lenses and filters) you already own and would normally take out for the day. A tripod will be useful, but don’t worry if you don’t have one: it's not essential and we may be able to lend you one for the workshop.

We will be walking over uneven and possibly icy ground throughout the day. It's likely to be very cold too. Be sure to wear warm and windproof clothing, and bring waterproofs just in case. You will also need sturdy and comfortable waterproof walking boots. There will be a reasonable amount of walking required during the day. Although Holy Island is relatively flat, a reasonable degree of fitness and mobility is recommended.
