Explore and photograph Bamburgh Castle and neighbouring coast on this new 2025 Northumberland Landscape Photography Workshop delivered by two professional landscape photographers based in Northumberland.

  • Date 22nd June 2025
  • Time 10am - 4.30pm
  • Max. group size 8 participants
  • Cost £80 per person

A true icon of Northumberland, Bamburgh Castle overlooks the picturesque village of Bamburgh. The first castle in Bamburgh – a timber stronghold – was built in the sixth century for a king of Northumbria, who made this his capital. The current castle was built by the Normans and extensively restored for Lord Armstrong in the nineteenth century.

On this workshop we’ll spend time in Bamburgh village. We’ll also explore the beautiful coastline nearby, including the quirky lighthouse, the mysterious Stag Rock, and the wild expanse of Budle Bay.

Useful information

This workshop is suitable for photographers of all levels of experience and ability, from absolute beginners to those with more experience. The group size is limited to eight to allow Jason and David to devote ample time throughout the day to every participant.

Bring with you the camera equipment (camera, lenses and filters) you already own and would normally take out for the day. A tripod will be useful, but don’t worry if you don’t have one: it's not essential and we may be able to lend you one for the workshop.

Although this is a summer workshop good, warm weather cannot be guaranteed in Northumberland. Wear layers to keep you warm, and bring waterproofs with just in case. You will also need sturdy and comfortable walking shoes or wellies.
