Hareshaw Linn is a delightfully photogenic waterfall that sits within the Northumberland National Park. The walk to the waterfall winds its way through deciduous woodland, which is an important home to a wide variety of wildlife, including red squirrels and deer.
This workshop has been timed to catch the wood at its best – clothed in its autumn colours. We will follow the beautiful river walk, and there will be excellent opportunities for water and woodland photography, as well as for shooting macro.
Useful information
This workshop is suitable for photographers of all levels of experience and ability, from absolute beginners to those with more experience. The group size is limited to eight to allow Jason and David to devote ample time throughout the day to every participant.
Bring with you the camera equipment (camera, lenses and filters) you already own and would normally take out for the day. A tripod will be useful, but don’t worry if you don’t have one: it's not essential and we may be able to lend you one for the workshop.
There is likely to be an autumnal chill so wear layers to keep you warm, and bring waterproofs with you just in case. You will also need sturdy and comfortable waterproof walking boots. There will be walking over rough ground and up and down slopes. A good level of fitness and mobility is highly recommended.

Jason Friend
A Whitley Bay resident for over 20 years, Jason Friend is an award-winning professional photographer that specialises in landscape and travel photography. Jason’s photography career has spanned over two decades with many incredible highlights including publishing a best-selling book, working for iconic brands such as Microsoft and National Geographic, exhibiting at the renowned Joe Cornish Gallery, and being personally invited to photograph a member of the royal family.
David Taylor is an award-winning landscape and travel photographer, born and raised in Newcastle upon Tyne. His Northumberland landscape photos have been used by local businesses, councils and tourism organisations including the Northumberland National Park Authority. His photographic work has appeared in a number of national and regional magazines, and he has also written and contributed to more than forty books about photography and photographic techniques.
